Sandy Henley, Mayor, Westampton Township: Saving Taxpayers Money through Shared Services

The Big Idea:

●      Westampton Township Mayor Sandy Henley is driving smart collaboration and building relationships across communities through shared government services to save local taxpayers money. Under his leadership, Westampton cut tax collector expenses in half by partnering with Evesham Township.

●      Westampton and Evesham’s shared service agreement is great for residents in both townships. The agreement allows each township to provide excellent tax collection services while splitting the collector’s salary payment.

Background:

●      Mayor Henley believes in putting people in positions to succeed and working together to improve local government for residents.

●      Small towns such as Westampton don’t always need their own full-time employee for every service. That’s why Mayor Henley looks for opportunities to save local tax dollars in partnership with other communities when a Westampton employee retires.

●      Elected in 2017, Mayor Henley serves on the Westampton Township Committee alongside four other elected members who collaborated to make the Evesham shared service agreement possible: Deputy Mayor Jaime Mungo, Committeewoman Genel Cook-Wright, Committeewoman Nancy Burkley, Committeeman Odise Carr.

●      A dedicated public servant, Mayor Henley is also a citizen member of the Burlington County Planning and Zoning Board where he has worked to support smart and prudent development for nearly a decade. Mayor Henley was a student athlete and earned a B.A. from Rowan University.

Fun Fact:

The tax collector shared service agreement began in January 2023 and saves Westampton taxpayers around $38,000 every year!
