Zeem Solutions: Creating Jobs and Cleaner Air Around New Jersey

The Big Idea:

●      Zeem Solutions is creating good-paying jobs for the community and helping reduce air pollution with their electric vehicle charging hub.

●      Located at Port Newark, this cutting-edge facility is set to partially launch by the end of 2024, with full completion expected in 2025. Upon completion, it will feature 84 high-powered charging ports, capable of servicing up to 500 electric vehicles daily.

Background:

●      Zeem will partner with local workforce development programs to develop a skilled local workforce ready to fill 15-20 full-time operations positions for attendants, mechanics, technicians and supervisors.

●      In addition to these direct roles, the construction and trucking sectors will also see hundreds of indirect jobs created by this initiative.

●      The new site, spread across three acres, will be the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at a port gateway on the East Coast.

●      Zeem will support Newark’s sustainability goals of reducing emissions 80% below 2006 levels by 2050 by transitioning electric commercial fleets, thus improving air quality in nearby communities that have long suffered from transportation-related pollution.

●      Zeem was founded in 2017 to offer affordable EVs to commercial fleets, enabling them to efficiently meet sustainability goals and governmental mandates.

Fun Fact:

Zeem’s Port Newark depot will offer more than just charging. Drivers will have access to a lounge with Wi-Fi, restrooms, and other amenities, ensuring a comfortable experience while their fleets charge overnight.

Their Take:

“Ports are vital to our economy, and it’s essential that we take action now to improve air quality for our communities. At Zeem, we’re leading the charge in transforming transportation by helping fleets lower emissions and boost efficiency. Our initiative is all about making meaningful strides toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
